A major task of the Board of Supervisors is to manage the public money which comes to the county from property tax, sales tax, fees, and federal and state income grants.
The Board approved Sonoma County’s Five-Year Strategic Plan in March, 2021 to provide the context to inform policies and projects that are prioritized for the next five years.
The California Legislature has taken special interest in opportunities for the general public to become involved in local government by serving on local boards, commissions and committees. Information about vacancies in these bodies is available to the public as a result of legislation sponsored by the late Senator Ken Maddy.
